Easygoing board game venue serving sandwiches & pizza, plus beer & coffee....
Really Enjoyable. I had signed up online to the Wednesday Night Commander. It was my first time playing commander and was quite nervous. I was introduced to a few people by they guy working the bar, put in a really feindly pod and made to feel very welcome. Also had great beer on tap.
Really excellent place, has good sets of 40k terrain, looked like a mix of nicely painted MDF layouts as well as old world, AoS and Heresy boards. Lots of space for smaller a skirmish games as well as a strong selection of board games. Service was impeccable, all staff attentive and polite. Highly recommend and I will be coming back.
Urgently needed a space to read and chill outside my home. Found this very cool place where it is dedicated to playing broad games. What a genius idea! Those customers were so serious playing their games 😆 Quick note that a lot of tables were reserved on a Saturday.
I found the atmosphere in Bad Moon board game café to be open, clean and spacious making it inviting. Without cramped seating spaces it felt comfortable, not grotty. My friend and I felt very comfortable, commenting that we didn't feel judged despite not being serious gamers! There was the whole section at the far end of the café where gamers were playing strategy games on tables. For the normal games there was a wide variety with different game types and suitability for different numbers of players made clear. The entrance fee for the café was very reasonable (£8 per person). The only negative was the food with limited options and not the best quality with pricing higher than I would expect, but such is the way nowadays.
Nice little spot to play some games with friends. It's an easy to walk from Borough station, follow the one road down and you are there. The staff were lovely and friendly and recommended a few beginner starter games which we needed help with. Food wise I would have liked something more healthy on the menu but the toasted focaccia sandwich was delicious! More salads please! I am looking forward to visiting again. A booking is recommended here.
