Sandwiches historically here have been a no go for me which is a shame. The hot food is better. The coffee is nice. It is a nice place to sit. Big and open and airy. Has ample seating. It is under new management since the end of 2025 and serving sizes have now become a lot smaller. Unfortunately after eating I now frequently feel hungry and need to eat something else. Sometimes substantial. The portions are closer to what I would consider child portions. See attached the photo of the vegetarian breakfast. It could be worth reviewing the sandwich selection and serving size if this is a common complaint. Even getting feedback from customers on recent changes. Team members have always been very friendly and helpful to me.
Went with my cousins and kids after a visit from mudchute. First of all half alot of the items such as cod and pasta were out of stock. We ordered the £1 fish fingers meals for the kids. There was a shortage of small plates but one of the staff refused to wash the plates for the very hungry kids or use the large plates until she washed everything and this took 40 minutes. By this point the kids were visibly crying out of hunger. The whole point of the £1 meal is to have a cheap day out but doesnt mean we dont deserve basic service. However the most shocking part, we are Asian ladies and had a black server. And the server proceeded to serve a white European lady and her kids with the same order who placed her order quite some time after us first despiter her knowing we had crying kids as if she valued the white customer above us. When we challenged her, she just muttered something under her breath. I always try to show compassion to servers as they have a tough job but I will never order from here again, absolutely stinking attitude.
We visited the café and were really disappointed. We ordered two tuna melts and a slice of carrot cake, but from the first bite, we instantly regretted it. The paninis were filled with the cheapest-tasting tuna, and the carrot cake wasn’t fresh at all. It tasted defrosted and was barely edible. Honestly, we would’ve been better off going hungry. Definitely won’t be coming back.
One pound meal? More like one pound NIL. Dont go here if you wanna get the 1 quid meal for your kid during half term. At 11.45 they sent us away saying it starts at midday but no signs saying this. At 12 on the dot then we asked for pasta, but hey it ain't ready, still cooking it. Did they not expect the families coming from the nearby farm? Staff attitude both times is abismal, my autistic toddler had a meltdown unable to have pasta due to wait. Had to leave without eating and now I have to find an equivalent on extreme budget.
After the negative reviews I read I was very hesitant to visit the asda cafe situated in the supermarket at the isle of dogs superstore. I needed a quick bite to eat but wanted a hot lunch so thought I'd see what the cafe has to offer. There was a variety of dishes ranging from lasagne, burgers, Mac & cheese, curries and fish & chips. I went for the fish & chips with a side of baked beans which cost £6.45 a portion. I think this was quite reasonable and for a cafe lunch the quality wasn't bad either. The only slight issue was that the food was quite luke warm as it's been sitting there most of the day so it would taste better served hot. I had a good lunch there maybe it wasn't so busy and the staff weren't run off their feet, although not over enthusiastic, friendly enough. I think I will definitely stop by again for a rushed lunch time shopping trip.
