New York deli-style sandwiches on sourdough bread, plus wines for sale, in a vibrant cafe and bar....
Stopped into The Pig & Heifer near Pearse Street Station when heading into town and was really glad I did. It’s a New York–style sandwich deli with a lovely interior — dark wood, mahogany tones, and a great overall feel. It was busy when we arrived, but service was quick and efficient. Seating is limited (just a couple of tables inside and a few outside), but it works well for a grab-and-go spot. I had the toasted beef pastrami cheese melt with pickle and spinach, and after asking for a recommendation, went with the rye bread — which was definitely the right choice. The sandwich was packed with flavour and really satisfying. There’s a huge selection of fillings, and you can either pick from the menu or build your own, which is a nice touch. We paid about €17 total for the sandwich (which we shared) and two coffees (also good), which felt like good value for the quality. We’d actually walked past a big queue at Bread 41 and decided to try here instead — no regrets. I’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend.
We had the best sandwich in Dublin! Me and my friends were having short dublin trip and this place was very close to our hotel. At the entrance I could see quite a lot of peole waiting, and even local people recommended this place to us at the entrance haha. There was so many options, and I had chicken mozzarella with pesto, it was sooooo good!! They put sandwiches in toasty machine so it's quite crispy and I liked it so much.
The Pig and Heifer has that genuine, family-owned feel that instantly makes you feel welcome. It’s the kind of place where you can tell the people behind the counter actually care about what they’re serving. The atmosphere is simple, friendly, and no-nonsense, exactly what a sandwich shop should be. I stopped in for a sandwich and was really impressed. Fresh ingredients, great bread, generous portions, and everything put together with care. It’s hearty, satisfying food without trying too hard, and you can see why locals keep coming back.
Hands down! Best sandwiches in the country. Amazing pastrami melt and NY Rueben. Also recommend the Serrano goat which was juicy. Great portions and succulent meat.
Amazing New York Reuben. Filling and at a good price. After a couple weeks of European sandwiches that give you two thin slices of meat, finally something a carnivore like me can appreciate. It's also very flavourful pastrami, with the other toppings complimenting it well. The brown bread wasn't exciting, but did the job. Service was friendly and prompt. There are a few spots to sit. It's well worth the detour here from the busier areas.
