Weekday mornings are the quietest
I really love this place. I’ve already been here three times (for both breakfast and lunch) and have never been disappointed. The food is tasty and very reasonably priced. There’s plenty of space and lots of tables to sit at. The atmosphere is peaceful and quiet. Definitely recommend!
Terrific large restaurant, very popular, opposite Trinity College, near museums and gallery's great location. Food options are superb. Hot or cold counters, table service well worth a delicious lunch/brunch or indeed dinner. My favourite is Wrights Fish and Chips gorgeous fresh white fish. Plenty of food options for all tastes, very large seating area. Highly recommend it.
Really disappointing food. I got a quiche with 2 salads and didnt eat either of them. The pesto pasta was completely flavourless and the sweet potato salad was just mush. The staff were polite and friendly but for €15.99 all I ate was a few bites of bland quiche.
Kilkenny Café is conveniently located for a quick bite to eat or a cup of tea or coffee as you visit major sights near Trinity College including the National Library of Ireland, and the national art gallery and museum. Neither the food nor the atmosphere is something to rave about, though. My dining companion and I both thought that whatever seasoning was in the cream of vegetable soup we shared today — summer savory, perhaps? — was way too strong. The salad that came with my chicken wrap was simply inedible, with a viscous sweet dressing when, as dining companion said, "All they had to do was put a bit of vinegar and oil on the salad." And the many tables crowded into a fairly small place, with diners carrying trays and vying for a vacant table, hardly makes for pleasant dining. So the convenience of the place has to contend with the poor food and noisy, crowded atmosphere as one makes a choice to eat there or not.
Before touring the castle we decided to have lunch here because it's located accross the street from it. Place was nice, friendly service and lunch was great. We had the clam chowder soup and it was delicious.
