I’ve heard only good things about the toasties and coffee here, so we had to give it a try 🫡 The air is filled with the sweet smelling of brewing Guinness from the storehouse next door, which adds a magical atmosphere as you enter this eclectic coffee shop. Groundstate roast their own coffee, even offering various beans and roasts on their retail shelf ☕️ the coffee cups are big and delicious. We had a small mishap with our ordering being lost in the busyness of the day but the staff were really apologetic about it and we didn’t mind in the end. We had one of their mushroom toasties and it was bang-on. Definitely recommend 💯 To top it all off, we tried one of their brownies which is one of the best I’ve had. Their chairs definitely aren’t made for long visits and it can easily feel cramped inside when it gets busy (but that’s Dublin retail for you I guess 🤷🏻♀️) Conclusion: worth the hype ✨
We enjoyed a delicious breakfast with unique flavors; the chorizo and bacon were amazing, and the freshly ground coffee was delicious. The service and atmosphere were great, with excellent prices.
I really liked Groundstate Coffee. The food was very delicious and they have great vegan/vegitarian options if that is what you are looking for! Fair warning, the space itself is a bit small and you are packed pretty tightly inside, so keep that in mind. When we went it was a bit crowded so we had a window seat instead of a table. The staff were very kind and helpful so that made the experience even better. Overall, I enjoyed it here!
I visited this spot in Dublin expecting a true specialty coffee experience, but I left feeling a bit conflicted. The Coffee: While it’s marketed as a specialty shop, the coffee felt a bit mediocre. It lacked the full body and distinct notes you expect from high-end beans. It wasn't bad, just indistinguishable—definitely not what I’d call "specialty" standard. The Food: I tried the brownie, and it was a letdown. Instead of a rich, chocolatey treat, it was mostly just sugar and seeds—very unexpected and not really a "brownie" in the traditional sense. The Kitchen: The breakfast and lunch plates coming out looked absolutely lovely, and I really wanted to try them. Unfortunately, the kitchen closes at 3:00 PM on Sundays, so I missed my chance. Verdict: Overall, it's an okay spot if you just want a fair cup of coffee and are there early enough for lunch. But if you are a serious coffee lover looking for a specific roast or body, this might not be the place for you.
The food is quite simple, and the customer service is just okay. To be honest, as a tall person, I didn’t find the seats comfortable at all — they’re very small and have a back support that feels awkward. If you’re tall like me, I’d suggest looking for another place where you can sit more comfortably. Also, the tables felt sticky, maybe because of some kind of polish they use on the wood — they should really check that. Overall, it seems more like a tourist spot for people visiting the Guinness Storehouse rather than a place for good, local food. Personally, I wouldn’t recommend it.
