Weekday mornings are the quietest
Grand little spot altogether. Popped in for a morning coffee last Saturday and couldn’t fault it – smooth, hot, and exactly what I needed to start the day. Ended up grabbing a nice bottle of wine for the evening as well. Staff were sound and the place has a lovely relaxed vibe.
My partner and I are regular customers at Brindle, and up until yesterday we have had lovely experiences. However, yesterday at around 5pm we stopped by for a coffee and a snack, and were met with awful service. My partner got a Fritz cola and we were asked if we would like it to be opened to which we said yes. While we were waiting for my coffee to be made, she took a straw as per usual (we weren’t offered a cup with ice) and when she put the straw in the drink, accidentally, it fizzed up. She tried her best to contain it but the drink spilled a bit onto the floor and the counter. The barista muttered under her breath and disappeared despite my partner apologetically asking for napkins to clean it. The barista returned with blue roll a few minutes later and began to wipe at our feet without making any effort to acknowledge us. She then said ‘napkins are at the end of the shop’ and pointed to the door. When she bent down to clean, she said to my partner (who is a grown woman), ‘next time don’t shake it OK?’ as if my partner had done it on purpose. This interaction has left us feeling humiliated. We then left, feeling quite shocked, and it was at this point I realised that my iced coffee (€5.30) had been made with 0 ice in it, just oat milk and espresso. If there was no ice available I would have gladly chosen another coffee and usually I would have had no problem returning and asking for this issue to be rectified as mistakes can be made. However, due to the ignorance of the staff we went elsewhere for a replacement. Really disappointed, as we are locals and regulars.
A fantastic neighborhood grocery store. They really focus on organic and sustainable products, and the wine selection is very appealing. Any issues at checkout are quickly resolved, and the staff are very friendly.
Lovely little café with great coffee and attention to detail. Relaxed atmosphere, super friendly staff, and a perfectly made flat white with beautiful latte art. A real hidden gem in Dublin!
EXCELLENT coffee and lattes. Made in house syrups that take your drink to the next level. Small area to sit outside and larger space inside. Would definitely recommend to anyone that is looking for a great coffee and pick me up in the Portobello Dublin area!
