Weekday mornings are the quietest
We visited during Dining Week and chose this restaurant mainly for its location. The dining room is beautiful, full of historical charm and atmosphere. However, the table setup felt quite cramped, with many tables placed close to each other. We had the 5-course set menu. The beef tartare was excellent and definitely the highlight of the evening, but the other dishes were fairly ordinary and slightly under-seasoned. Overall, the food was good, but not particularly memorable. The main downside was the pacing. The booking indicated a 2-hour seating, but our dinner lasted nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes, with around 30 minutes between each course. The slow rhythm impacted the overall experience. The staff were friendly and professional, but it seemed they were understaffed for the number of guests. In the end, it was a pleasant evening largely thanks to the setting. I would still recommend visiting at least once for the ambiance, perhaps outside of Dining Week for a smoother experience, even if it comes at a higher price.
Definitely the best smørrebrød in town. Just as impressive the second as at my first visit some time ago. Just thinking about the smørrebrød with tartare makes my mouth water again. The freshly cut beef from northern Jutland is a dream. Lightly marinated in almond oil, without being overwhelmed by various spices, its delicate flavor unfolds. The delicate tarragon mayonnaise under the airy cress, dusted with horseradish... an indescribable pleasure. The service team is quick, very friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable. The room is extraordinary...as is the check before you enter. It's like meeting the king himself. In fact, it's probably the king in the kitchen, the king of smørrebrød. Not to be forgotten, they also proudly advertise their house-made snaps.
My friends and I had a wonderful dinner. The historic tower made the experience special from the start. We chose the four-course menu (495 DKK), starting with beef tartare with pepper emulsion, hazelnuts, pickled shallots, and Havgus, with warm sourdough and whipped butter. The second course was seared scallop with chanterelles, Jerusalem artichokes, and mushroom soy sauce. For my main, I upgraded to roasted beef tenderloin (+125 DKK), served with celery purée, baked beets, pepper sauce, and potato with browned butter. Dessert was almond cake with lemon verbena, raspberries, hazelnuts, and Muscovado ice cream. We began with wine, and service was warm and friendly. The atmosphere was balanced, making for a memorable dining experience I’d return for.
A unique place to dine - at the tower of the Danish Parliament Building with historical sculptures. Food: is mainly open-faced rye bread sandwiches. - The Crayfish tail salad with brioche bread was pretty, the bread was hardly toasted. - The Slow-roasted pork breast was too oily, the pork was still hard, the crispy skin on top is very challenging to cut/eat, mayonnaise made it taste more fatty - something that can be improved, change the sauce that compliments the fatty flavor - the dessert is pretty Can be pricey for what you get. A sandwich with the same price as the dessert at from 120kr, ad libitum water is at 30kr. Service is impeccable Atmosphere is nice and cozy but feels small/congested, closely seated with other guests and can be noisy.
The last time I was in Copenhagen, we did a bike tour and Mike (who runs the tour) recommended this place. Two years later I found myself back in Copenhagen with some free time so I thought I’d check it out- and I’m glad that I did. The open faced sandwiches are amazing. I got the chicken salad one and there were fresh chunks of chicken breast and it was well seasoned. The bread was toasted to perfectly balance the toppings without becoming soggy. Excellent meal. Also tried the apple strudel dessert I didn’t care for the greens on it- but it was very well balanced and tasty. Also tried the blackberries aquavit- which was home made and very good. Really enjoyed this experience. Will definitely go back. It is almost $70 US dollars- so a bit on the pricey side for lunch (I did have a meal, dessert, a glass of wine and an aquavit), but worth it. Oh- and the atmosphere is really cool. A large vaulted room, and you can go up to the tower for amazing views of the city.
