There always seems to be a queue here and we waited about 25 mins (16:00) but by the time we left at 17:00 it was a lot quieter. The cake selection is extensive abd we were spoilt for choice The cakes were delicious and the hot chocolate was the best I have had in Copenhagen. Even the wait wasn't too bad as they bought us a free biscuit while we waited for our table and peruswd the cake menu. Definitely worth a visit.
The Cake Heaven. Impeccable quality and flavors, with no doubt the best cake I have had in my life. My wife and I are regular clients and every time our very high expectations are met. If you live in town, or if you are visiting, find some time for an afternoon tea and cake! Considering the prices for a slice of cake they should rename the place Conditori Cartier, however it is worth every penny! Our personal favorites are the Mocca Eclair and the Forårskage (layer cake raspberry mousse and marzipan)!
If you’re looking for a taste of Danish history and nostalgia, this place is an absolute must-visit in Copenhagen. Founded way back in 1870, Conditori La Glace isn’t just a pastry shop - it’s Denmark’s oldest and most iconic konditori, serving up beautiful cakes and sweets for over a century. From the moment you step inside, you feel like you’ve stepped into a slice of history. The classic interior and tradition-laden atmosphere instantly whisk you back to old Copenhagen days, where afternoons were spent sipping coffee and savouring rich, lovingly crafted confections. Their cake selection is legendary. Don’t miss trying their famous layer cakes - especially the traditional Sportskage and other time-honoured classics that have delighted generations of locals and visitors alike. Each bite feels indulgent, rich, and beautifully balanced - like a nod to the past with every forkful. Whether you’re here for a cosy coffee break (they only have filter coffee) or to relive childhood memories through taste, La Glace offers historical significance, charming nostalgia, and truly amazing cakes that make every visit special. Highly recommended for anyone exploring Copenhagen’s culinary heritage! Always arrive 20 min before since you might have to stand in line, however it’s worth the wait.
Ok...its not particularly cheap but nice to come here once in a trip to Copenhagen. Cakes look stunning. Lovely Black Forest gateau for about 82 DKK. You get a free refill on your coffee. Friendly service.
What an amazing tea house — it lives up to the hype! A friend from Denmark recommended that we go as this conditori used to supply cakes to the Danish royal family. You can tell that the quality here is very high. We had the Schwartzwälder cake and princess cake, both were super delicious. One of the best Schwarzwälder cakes I’ve had — even compared to ones I tried in Germany and Austria. You must also get the hot chocolate. It is very creamy and light but not too dense. The hot chocolate is refillable. My husband got filtered coffee which was also refillable. We went at 3pm and queued, despite the long line it only took us about 25 minutes to get inside. Once inside, they give you a number and you order by the till. It is then another 15 minute wait for the cakes — but totally worth it.
