Laid-back hotel in the Old City featuring dining, plus simple rooms with free Wi-Fi & Netflix....
Stayed at 3 hotels in Chiang Mai, and this was my favourite. Loved the peaceful location next to a temple, visible from the king corner room. The co-working space downstairs was excellent, with strong Wi-Fi, aircon, and 24/7 reception, making me feel safe as a solo female traveler. Central location tucked into side streets, with a cafe next door and several more within walking distance. They gave complimentary drinks at a resto nearby! Cons: - Was the lack of elevator, which made accessing the top floor a bit tiring while in holiday mode and with a 25kg suitcase - The staircase was a bit slippery and had a mini slip but luckily held onto the handrails quickly
Avoid alert. OK one by one. Arrived, booked and requested a quiet room, 5 nights. Got the room and amenities are OK however the room was dirty and dusty, haven't seen that in a while. Went to dinner. Came back, room full of blue smoke from the bar restaurant bbq pizza place just below my window. Closed windows, opened door to vent. Turned on AC, smoke came in through. Can't breathe. Went to the bar, they said they work until 2AM, not to mention the noise. Went to reception. No one there, had to call to show up, talking 9.30 PM. Long face. Went to room, noticed the smoke and noise, said OK but we are fully booked. She has only one room, downgraded me to the bottom. Room on the hallway practically. I moved, at least there's no smoke. She said we will see tomorrow. Complained to booking instantly and they helped me to book a hotel right away with a big discount. I travel a lot. Tomorrow booking notified me that they will reimburse me entirely. However, upon check out I got a message that I will have to pay for the night, cash in, no receipt, in baht, outside booking. I paid and left. Bottom line. No service. Just money grabbing, not a lot of care. Booking notified and understood the violation. Avoid. I don't hammer people for no reason, honestly. I've never seen this level of arrogance and non care in hospitality after 80+ visited countries. Bottom.
Room is big and clean, staffs are really helpful and friendly. It’s in the centre of city, only 5 mins by foot to Ta Pae Gate!
Viya Lodge, Chiang Mai – Spacious Comfort in the Heart of Old Town I stayed at Viya Lodge on the third floor in a front-facing twin-bed room and was pleasantly surprised by the overall comfort. The room was spacious, very clean, and well-equipped with modern amenities including a large LG smart TV, fridge, kettle, and toiletries. The beds were comfortable, and despite its central location, the room remained quiet at night, making it easy to relax after exploring the city. Many guests also highlight the same—good-sized rooms with everything needed for a short or long stay. The service was another highlight. The reception team greeted warmly with smiles and were always ready to help with small details. Their hospitality created a welcoming atmosphere that made the stay feel personal and enjoyable. Location-wise, Viya Lodge couldn’t be better. Situated in the Old Town, it is within walking distance of major temples, local markets, massage shops, sports bars with live music, and a variety of restaurants and cafés. Guests repeatedly mention how convenient it is to access all key attractions by foot. The only drawback is breakfast. Instead of serving it in-house, the hotel arranges a fixed-menu breakfast at their sister property about 150 meters away. While the staff remain welcoming, the offering feels average and doesn’t quite match the value of the room rate. Some guests enjoyed the nearby breakfast spot, but many agree that improving the on-site breakfast would elevate the experience significantly. Overall, Viya Lodge stands out for its spacious rooms, modern facilities, warm service, and unbeatable Old Town location. If you prioritize room comfort, cleanliness, and friendly staff over breakfast variety, this hotel is an excellent and highly recommended choice in Chiang Mai.
Rooms are big and clean. The best thing for me was a 50 inch TV 📺 This is the first time for me. I enjoyed relaxing in the room watching movies. Very peaceful experience, I have extended my stay here🥳 Staff is super friendly and can hold a decent conversation in English. Were able to assist with all my questions on things to do around the city. Was a decent experience, not a rushed one🫶🏼 The manager was a monk for nearly 20 years and is super calm and helpful. He will go out of his way to accommodate you🙏🏽
