Refined quarters in an upmarket hotel featuring a chic cafe, a restaurant & an outdoor pool....
This hotel is absolutely beautiful with exceptional service. Everything from breakfast, room service, tea time, grounds and pool area are fantastic. It's centrally located within old town Chang Mai with lots of delicious restaurants and cafes near by. I would highly recommend staying here for a few nights at the minimum. The pool is stunning but not heated. Refreshing on a warm day. They have complementary tea time with beautiful delicious pastries daily from 2-4. Such a wonderful surprise!
A Green Oasis in the Heart of the City – A True Gem with Room for Minor Improvements Our stay at Chala Number 6 was truly delightful. The hotel is a "hidden gem" and feels like a green oasis amidst the vibrant energy of Chiang Mai. The lush plant life and the thoughtful, artistic details throughout the property create a wonderful, relaxing atmosphere. What We Loved * The Grounds: The pool area is beautiful and serene. * Service: The staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. * Complimentary Perks: The small complimentary breakfast is a great start to the day, and the afternoon tea is a lovely, high-quality touch that we really appreciated. The Superior Room We stayed in a Superior Room. While this category doesn't feature a balcony, our room faced the inner corridor leading to the spa. This turned out to be a blessing as it was perfectly quiet, shielding us from the school noise mentioned in other reviews. The twin beds were very comfortable. The pillows were a bit firm for my personal taste, but that is, of course, a matter of individual preference. Areas for Improvement While the decor is very tasteful, there are two functional points that could easily be improved to make the guest experience even better: * Bathroom Storage: Although the bathroom features a fantastic Japanese toilet, there is absolutely no counter space or shelving for toiletries. I actually had to repurpose the laundry basket to hold my items. Adding a simple shelf or a wider vanity would make a world of difference. * Seating Area: While there is a desk chair, the room lacks a comfortable place to sit and relax, even though there is plenty of floor space available. Adding a small armchair or a cozy seating nook would make the room much more inviting for lounging, rather than just using it for sleep. Verdict: A beautiful, stylish hotel with a lot of heart. If the room functionality (storage and seating) were addressed, it would easily be a 5-star experience. We would definitely return to enjoy the peace and quiet of this green sanctuary!
Beautifully appointed boutique resort in the old town with EXCEPTIONAL service by all staff! The decor and attention to all detail is AMAZING!! Very reasonably priced with a wonderful breakfast included - extremely good value!! Rooms are spacious, super clean with comfortable beds. The pool was beautiful, allbeit unheated, but refreshing on a hot day. The location is perfect for lots of walking to local restaurants, beautiful shops and temples. This is the IDEAL resort to stay at when visiting Chiang Mai
I stayed here Feb 2026. Probably my favorite hotel ever!!! The service is amazing the people are so kind. It is immaculate and rooms are very large and come with unlimited water and snacks. Wonderful location right near one of the main temples. Was so nice to come back here after long days of exploring. I miss it already! Would definitely return if I’m ever in Chiang Mai again ..
Chala Number 6 is a beautiful and very unique hotel that truly feels like an experience rather than just a place to stay. The traditional Thai style combined with elegant, almost historical décor creates a special atmosphere that immediately immerses you in the spirit of Chiang Mai. The design feels timeless, calm and full of thoughtful details – the ambiance here is truly exceptional. During peak season before Christmas, the hotel was beautifully decorated for the holidays, which added even more charm and warmth to the overall atmosphere. The room was very well equipped and one of the highlights was the number of complimentary items. The minibar was refilled daily, which is a great bonus and not something you see often. Everything was clean, comfortable and felt high quality. The location is excellent – the hotel is directly across the street from Wat Phra Singh, one of the most important and iconic temples in Chiang Mai, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The staff were kind, welcoming and very helpful. Overall, the hotel offers everything you would expect from a 5-star property – cleanliness, comfort, atmosphere and attentive service. We did not try the hotel restaurant, but the breakfasts were very good. The selection was smaller compared to large international hotels, but the quality was good, fresh and well prepared. A wonderful stay and a hotel we would happily return to.
