Beautiful place with different areas to see. Extensive menu of matcha drinks. We took yamayuki. Interesting flavor, but personally felt too much wakame seaweed flavor. Matcha roll was perfectly smooth and not too sweet. Expect to wait in the queue to be sifted
Very disappointing experience for a place with so much potential. On a positive note, the Kokoro matcha was really good. Unfortunately, that was the highlight. The service was poor, and communication with the waiter was difficult due to a language barrier. The place was extremely crowded, which completely took away the calm, quiet feeling you’d expect from a Japanese matcha tea house. It felt like they were trying to squeeze in as many people as possible, making it anything but relaxing. We asked for a bit of extra milk, and only after checking our bill were we told we could get a small amount — just once. While we were still drinking our matcha, the waiter brought the bill, took our credit card, and didn’t return it. About 10 minutes after we could see the payment had gone through, we had to ask for our card back. This was uncomfortable, especially with how packed the place was and the card left unattended. This place has all the elements to be something special, but unfortunately it fell short. It felt overpriced and underdelivered.
We discovered Magokoro Teahouse by coincidence while walking through Chiang Mai and decided to stop in for some tea - what a great decision. The place is beautifully designed in a traditional Japanese teahouse style, with a calm and peaceful atmosphere. There’s also a lovely garden area outside, which must be even more beautiful during the day (we visited after dark). The matcha selection is outstanding, with several grades and varieties to choose from. The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and the presentation of the tea was elegant and authentic. We enjoyed the experience so much that we even bought some matcha to take home. A truly serene and authentic spot - highly recommended for any tea lover visiting Chiang Mai.
Love the real Japanese vibe and the matcha taste was great! I ordered the usucha set with wagachi and loved it. Want to order the second one, but have to stop myself 'coz I still have a lot of matcha selection in my freezer 😊 If I lived in Chiangmai, I guess I would find myself come here quite often. Thank you for having this beautiful matcha house in the city center like this so, people can come here and experience peace! Hope your business will always do well.
Came in for a late dessert and was blown away by the quality of food and beverage, gorgeous tatami room, also the friendly service from the wait staff. By far the best place for Japanese style parfaits. The Yuzu parfait came with sorbet and yoghurt gelato, a perfectly balanced dessert with all the trimmings. The hojicha parfait came with hojicha gelato that's smokey, rich and decadent, perfectly paired with mochi and red beans. We also ordered sencha tea that came in the most beautiful artisan teapot, the best quality ceramic I've experienced in a tea house outside of Japan. The Japanese garden is simply zen and a delight. Definitely coming back for more!
