Szamos Today

All the Cakes look nice but on tasting 2 of them we found them very bland and not tasting of anything!!! Coffee very nice but had to order 2 as only half a cup!!! Not a great experience and very expensive.👎

The coffee was fine, the cake okay.. though rather disappointing. The advertised flavours were represented in the decor / topping more than the actual cake. What bothered us was the noise level. Given the Cafe’s serving system (using beepers) there was constant beeping in the air and it got quite annoying after a while.

This cafe was recommended by our host but the staff at the counter at 7:40 am let it down. The coffee two days ago was great. Today the ristretto was extremely poor quality. When questioned, the machine was blamed and there was resistance to change it. After the help of a local lady who spoke Hungarian, we finally got another one with a little cream on top. A male staff member, probably the day manager, came to look at our table and walked away without speaking anything to us, but uttering the words "free coffee". What a terrible disservice to clients, to doubt them like this. I would have given four stars two days ago, but give one star today. Would prefer zero stars. Szamos Cafe wasn't busy at all at this time. It has potential but all its staff clearly need training in politeness, friendliness and half way decent, if not good, service. We will never go here again nor recommend it to our friends who visit Budapest.

I’ve always enjoyed the high standard of the Szamos cafe on Vörösmarty Ter. However, I found the Szamos by the Hungarian Parliament is my new fav. Not only do they have an amazing selection of fresh delicious cakes, they also provide the perfect sandwich too. So savoury or sweet tooth everyone in my family are content. Staff are great as is the view.

Great cafe place next to the house of Parliament. The food is high quality, it is a confectionery but offers also daily lunch menu. The interior is new a modern, the service is friendly and the prices are OK. There is. chocolate museum upstairs. The place is air conditioned and there is a toilet for guests only. Card payment is accepted.
