An excellent selection of traditional cakes, including yogurt cake, Dobos, and kremeš. The kremeš in particular was outstanding, truly delicious and well executed. The coffee was very good and complemented the pastries nicely. Even though the person serving didn’t speak English, she was extremely attentive and made a clear effort to provide good service, which made the experience pleasant and welcoming. The atmosphere is classic and carefully maintained, with a sense of tradition and attention to detail. A lovely place to enjoy typical desserts in a calm, well-kept setting.
I would give zero stars if could. Basically highway robbery, for 10,000 huf they sell you a cake hard and old enough to use as a brick. Shameful
Century old traditional business, finest cake, classy antique interior. Luxury for economy price level. The finest marzipan cake I've ever tasted! 🍰😀 Con: something is a bit off with the attitude of the staff, I feel like they are frustrated about the table service fee which they charge for on site dining and I am just guessing they had heated disputes about this fee with lots of other customers in the past. I didn't see this service fee displayed in the shop, although I was not searching for this but I guess it's why this fee causes frustration for many, including the staff. I was surprised when I was told about but it's okay, its 2022, everything costs a lot so I can understand this system as well.
Unacceptable service. I was going to order at the counter where I can actually able to see the cakes and where the cashier located as well. Soon after I was going to order I was told - in a rude and bored tone - that I must go back to my table ( from where actually I can’t see the cakes) because I am only allowed to order from there. When I asked why would I do that not being able to see what I would like to order, the answer I got - in the same rude tone - was because we have a table service. I bet she thought she needed to refer the fact that they defined the cake prices differently for take away and dine in. Although I did not ask for the cheaper price and I would have paid the more expensive price - obviously. When I asked what was the logic behind it all and it would have been much more comfortable for the customer and questioned the 18 yrs old waiter to be friendlier to a customer even with a concern ( I need to add I was the only guest at the time in their store) I got a warning I better change my style and an extra sarcastic smile when the young lady pointed out she was the manager in charge so better to go away because my problem would not be solved - not even- heard. Yes I was upset obviously but did not use a single rude word. Finally She shouted (!) after me a ‘Have a nice day!’. Well done Szamos cukraszda (at Boszormenyi) one star has just awarded for this kind of a customer service.
