We had the pleasure to attend the wonderful Veli Bej Turkish Bath yesterday and the displeasure to attend the kávézo (or cafe) leading up to it. The blonde woman running it was mouthy and rude to too many people, including us. She really has a major problem with people asking questions in general and clearly hates being stuck in the cafe of an afternoon/evening. It really took the shine off a lovely health spa visit as we thought we’d treat ourselves to coffee and cake before we left. The woman who ended up sitting behind us kept shaking her head with the server’s loud spats and rude comments to people. She was also very loud and very rude to my husband who couldn’t respond to her in Hungarian while he was trying to pay, she then screamed across the cafe over to me (sitting 20 meters away) in Hungarian regarding how my husband was going to pay while he was waving his credit card around trying to pay. Terrible woman but well positioned cafe looking over the top of the hammam.
Cheap but bad coffee, rude, impolite staff.
Nice cappuccino (less than 2 eur), neutral, But ok service, with a view to the ancient (15th century) veli bej.
I'll start with the good: Kind, attentive service, cozy place in a spacious, bright space. Now comes the fika: the coffee - dessert is very average quality. The foam on the cappuccino reminded me more of shaving foam than milk foam, the quality of the coffee is not the best either... I hope it will change 🤞🏻😉
The waiter was kind, accepting and polite to me because I am hearing impaired. I am also including the remaining part of the Somlói galuska. I recommend it to everyone who has to do this or is a patient treated in a hospital.
