We ended our 5-day trip to Budapest with a dinner at Café Hadik - which had been recommended by Hungarian friends. We loved the atmosphere and the attentiveness of our waiter Sebastian. So food was enjoyable, too - albeit the price was a bit steep compared to Budapest prices in general. While we enjoyed the duck, the goulash and the chicken soup could have had a bit more depth to it. Worth mentioning that this place is frequented by a lot of locals.
This coffee bar has a big history. More famous Hungarian writer visited before. Really nice the atmosphere. Perfect for a meeting or dating. The menu has wide selection with delicious foods and drinks. The staffs are kind and polite of course.
Stopped in for a quick drink. Staff were friendly. Service was quick. Drinks were as expected. Pop in while you out and about. The menu looked pretty good. We sat outside most of the inside was closed till 5pm.
From the first moment you sit down, especially if you're lucky enough to have the live music next door, this place feels like a young, vibrant Budapest nestled in the heart of the old world. Traditional flavors executed artfully satisfy your palette, even if you're like us and just spent two weeks in the countryside being spoiled by some of the best food we've ever had. I honestly can say Hungary has our home (Seattle) beat on quality, variety, and value of cuisine. We would kill to have this back home. Our table for three tonight: Drinks: Alcohol free Gin & Tonic and Hibiscus mocktails plus a refreshing homemade Apricot Tea. Food: Pan fried chicken with parsnip puree, Cottage cheese and bacon dish, and layered potatoes with quail eggs (one of three Hadik signature dishes). Simply fantastic. My chicken dish with the corn and wasabi salad was insanely good, floating above clouds of parsnip puree. My family was very protective of their dishes too, so I only got small bites and they were amazing. So much flavor and all the right spices. Very nice.
