The interior design of the place incorporates authentic and oriental elements. The Turkish rugs and wood carvings are worth seeing. It has a warm atmosphere, but it suffers from disadvantages such as a flawed reservation system and self-service.
Interesting place, atmosphere there is like you found yourself in the last century. Didn’t try food. But I checked their author coffee. It was nice.
A unique place with a retro/old home cozy feeling. They make their own plant based milk! Also good variety of drinks/coffee. Also staff were friendly. Very recommended!
I’m surprised seeing other reviews state that they were treated poorly because they were tourists. We are also tourists and were treated just fine. The cafe is cozy and we both enjoyed our coffees and cake. You do have to order at the counter which we picked up on by watching others. This certainly seems like a place where both locals and tourists go. For tourists, watch how the cafe operates for a bit and then do the same.
Szivago Café is honestly the prettiest café I’ve been to in Budapest. It’s like stepping into a time machine — super retro, filled with old furniture, quirky details everywhere, and so cozy you’ll never want to leave. The staff are amazing, warm, and welcoming, which just makes the whole experience even better. It’s quiet, comfy, and feels like a little hidden gem in the city. And oh — do yourself a favor and try the coffee vodka, Russian style. It’s insanely good, will get you a little tipsy, and is absolutely worth it (just… careful 😉). A true time journey and a must-visit spot if you love unique cafés with character!
