Nice small place where they only sell cakes and small pastries. Also must be the only place in Budapest where they don charge you service charge and tip.
The best cukszarda here in Budapest! Thank you lady with cakes and coffee! Awesome place, traditional, domestic!
Beautiful strong coffee and lovely cakes here. Home made and a must visit. Great location and a few seats inside. Owner is very helpful.
The best cakes we had in Budapest and anywhere else, and very good price! We also have the ice cream and they are very good too. The store is small but everything is delicious, can’t go wrong with any choice you make!
Budapest is undoubtedly a city filled with fantastic pastry offerings, making it a sweet tooth's paradise. However, most coffee shops tend to offer cream and soft cheese-based cakes, which are delicious but not ideal for taking away, especially if you have to travel by flight. We struggled to find a bakery that offered cookies or biscuits until we stumbled upon a small, old-school bakery on our way to the Opera. The bakery is tiny, with only three small tables and a few chairs. It clearly has not changed for decades, including its prices! The lady running the shop spoke little English, but we managed to learn that she makes most of the cookies herself and buys the larger cake pieces. We ordered several coffees and tried many things, given the affordable prices. Stepping into this bakery felt like going back in time three or four decades, and we found some fantastic cookies that we had not seen in shops for years. Most of the buyers seemed to be local workers coming in for a quick and affordable lunchtime treat. As we enjoyed the sweets, we decided to pack as many cookies as we could to take back home for our family to try. Surprisingly, the bakery was not equipped with takeaway boxes, as most people who came in were just grabbing a coffee and something quick to eat. Nevertheless, we still managed to pack a few kilograms of cookies at an incredibly reasonable price. We highly recommend this bakery if you're in the Opera region and want something sweet and affordable. However, if you're looking for something posh, this might not be the right place for you. But if you want some of that homemade goodness that reminds you of your grandmother's kitchen, then you should definitely check this bakery out. It's just a one-minute walk from the National Opera.
