The cakes were so fresh and tasty, the coffee shop warm and cosy, the decoration was unique and everything was served on pretty, vintage dishes. Even though the staff doesnβt speak English you can get by if you speak a little German and it totally worths it! A great place to spend a calm day!
This is a wonderful little place. The cakes are delicious (especially the poppy seed cake) and the atmosphere is just as Berlin used to be. Itβs a no-laptop space and the owner does not speak English, so it would be good to keep that in mind and respect it. If you want a fabulous cake, do go there.
This review is simply related to the perceived prejudice shown by the owner. He is rude and suffers from Berliner Schnauzer - this is already clear from all previous reviews. For this reason I simply refuse to enter the premises as I have seen his behaviour multiple times. However, as of recently he is now openly advertising my Perception of his prejudice publicly, I say perceived as I cannot officially prove it however, he has now has in his window and door multiple times a sign claiming "NO ENGLISH". This could have multiple meanings, 'he doesn't speak English', 'cafe doesn't allow (or at bare minimum doesn't like to have) English'. Even if it is simply that he doesn't speak English, there is no need to publicly advertise as such. We are in Berlin and despite it being thoroughly international no one would have issues with a German only speaker/native and so, the need to advertise this publicly is simply a passive aggressive comment against non German speakers. This place will get what's coming to it.
Very cute ambience, nice staff. The cake was a bit too dry for my taste, but will definitely visit to try the others again π°
Found this place when I was supposed to go to another but this other happened to be closed. Couldn't have had better luck! I had the best walnut pie I have ever had (to be honest, it was my first walnut pie, but still). Also, have to mention the cutlery and mugs, as you can see in the picture they're the fanciest, make it taste even better. Ralf is also super friendly and a great baker, of course
