handmade Berlin

This shop seemed to have had a name change as the sign out front read ITO. This made it a little difficult to locate. They did have an amazing selection of unusual fibres if that is your thing. There was a second level, not sure if that also had stock or was for classes etc. I didn’t go that far because I was looking for sock yarn and they only had a few skeins in a discount basket. It was hard for me to rate because it was so unusual in its stock but as it did not have anything like what I was looking for I went with a 3. Others may rate it much higher.

Nice mix of yarns of several fibers from various countries, and very friendly staff. Recommended if you want something different than the usual merino yarns from huge mills.

Always worth a visit during our summer trip to Berlin. I love the Japanese yarns and the other yarns in the selection are nice too.

Nice collection of art yarn, but while skeining my small order of 150g shetland wool the saleswoman started helping another customer, which took forever, much longer than the skeining of my yarn took. Then she asked me if it was ok if she took on another customer who had a basket full of yarn, when I had already been waiting for ten minutes. Finally, she couldn't do the math when she punched in my total... 11.50 euro per 100g times 150 g is not 18:09, it is 17.25.

Big selection of ITO-yarns which I was not familiar with. Also Handmaiden! Lovely store with friendly staff. No time to stop for coffee but thought it was a lovely idea. Not many books for anyone looking to make an international purchase
