Cafe/deli serving traditional desserts, pastries & sandwiches, plus coffee & ice cream, since 1870....
An absolute gem in the bylanes of Liceu. This is a 156 year institution that serves the best churros. We had churros with chocolate, cremebrulle and topped it up with some nice tea . Do not hesitate to ask Javier or Linida for recommendations . While the place is full most of the time, so be prepared to wait for @10 minutes . Would definitely recommend to people visiting Barcelona
Authentic, the drinks were good, but the pastries were pretty bad. The cheesecake was watery and half egg, and the apple tart was also soggy. The crema wasnβt flame torched all the way across the top and it didnβt have many spices. Only the churros were good.
Overall a great experience. The seating is a bit chaotic, but 1st you are in Barcelona, second this is like a cultural landmark. Delicious sweets, great coffee indeed as well. Service meets high paced standards.
Full house with a really nice atmosphere. The place feels lively and welcoming. The chocolate dip with the churros was really goodβrich, warm, and perfect for dipping. Loved it!
Walking in here feels like travelling back to the 1800s: marble tables, floor tiles and those gorgeous original butchery counters are still there. The place has been run by the same family since 1870 and you can feel the history in every corner. Hands-down the best churros and Iβve had in Barcelona. The churros are perfectly crispy outside, light and fluffy inside, and come out piping hot. Dip them in their famous Cacaolat or the ultra-thick hot chocolate and youβre in heaven. Itβs literally 2-3 minutes from La Rambla and the top of the Gothic Quarter, but somehow stays more local than touristy (even though itβs packed). Prices are totally fair for the quality and the experience.
