Visited October 2013 - Granja & Chocolateria La Nena, Gràcia La Nena (“The Baby”) is Gràcia’s most child-friendly café, with low tables, bright little chairs, a play corner, and the cheerful hum of families filling the room. Pep, the founder, has Parisian-Catalan roots: after time as a vegetarian chef he opened this granja under Barcelona’s historic dairy-licence system, keeping the old-fashioned title in the name. I went straight for the classic suís: rich hot chocolate in deep cups, plates heaped with homemade whipped cream, and a centrepiece of freshly-fried churros. Each bite was crisp and fluffy, swept through clouds of cream and anchored by that dark, silken chocolate. The menu is broad, but here indulgence has only one true form. 10 out of 10.

Good spot to hang out for an hour or two. They have SO many board games (and even books and puzzles)! They have cake, crepe, and pastry options, great to eat with a hot chocolate. Tip: Each “hot” drink comes with a churro, even if it’s coffee!
