Worst coffee in thailand in my two weeks trip. Instead of using some great local single origin coffee from hills of Chiang Rai/Mai they are using an Italian roaster with some unknown beans. I almost threw up.
Coffee Beans by Dao in Ekamai 12 began as a crisis-era side-hustle under Dao’s condominium and grew into a neighbourhood institution. A former Thai Airways cabin crew member with Le Cordon Bleu training, she turned back to the thing she knew best: cooking. Neighbours first came for white chocolate cheesecake, coconut cake and a handful of “house cakes”, then stayed for khao kluk kapi, stews, kaprao and rice dishes that ate like home cooking with restaurant discipline. That mix grew into a full restaurant where mains and cakes share top billing. The room feels like a generously set home rather than a fashion café: pastel tones, chandeliers, hotel-like place settings. Somewhere in the cabinet sits the durian cake that began as her father’s birthday one-off and became the cult slice regulars insist on ordering.
Dropped in here just for dessert and it was a great decision. The brownie cheesecake was rich and indulgent without being overpowering, and the strawberry Babybloom was light, fresh, and perfectly balanced 🍓🍰 The space itself is comfortable and surprisingly versatile — good for informal meetings or even a bit of co-working if you need a change of scene. Big plus: free parking for 2 hours, which makes it very easy to pop in without stress. A solid spot for dessert, coffee, and casual work catch-ups. Will definitely return.
One of the most consistent restaurants in the past 20 years, food and desserts are always amazing. Staff are always attentive and food comes out pretty fast as well. Overall always an amazing experience to dine here.
Private car park in the basement with direct entrance to the restaurant. Elegant retro style decor. Food is average. Squid ink pasta with river prawn is a bit too creamy for my taste. The crispy soft shell crab tasted off, both texture and flavor. Excellent dessert, though, both ice cream and cherry crumble. Service could be better, main course should not arrive before appetizer.
