First, I need to say that I'm a big fan of dark chocolate [understatement]. Second, I need to acknowledge that I've been working in the fine cocoa industry for about a decade now. So folks, I know what I'm talking about. In fact I flew to Thailand specifically to do the following: to investigate the emerging fine cocoa and origin chocolate scene, to buy as much craft chocolate as my credit card will allow, AND to try gelato shops IF they happen to have a happy overlap with the origin chocolate sector. So this review is only for those who take their chocolate seriously. Anyone who complains about price and not having sugar for their coffee, please turn away now --- this review is NOT for you. Now that I've got that out of the way, let me tell you that what you pay for here, is worth every ฿ you're shelling out. And if you're still reading this, it's quite likely you don't need to buy an enormous amount of chocolate anyway, to satisfy your craving. This is because you're one of those whose sweet tooth, is tempered by the ability to savour the different array of flavours that only purer and darker chocolate can provide. So enjoy the beautifully designed interiors, slowly savour your hot drink, and partake of chocolate you've chosen to eat here rather than bring home. The last tip I'm going to give you is this, seek out the other Paradai store just around the corner on the same floor. That's where they showcase the beautiful equipment they sell for coffee roasting, which can be used for cocoa beans as well. You're welcome, and enjoy! 😉
In the past few years, Paradai has won many international chocolate awards. At its prices, it'd better be good. Personal assessment : I had their soft chocolate ice cream. It was super delicious!
I have been exploring Thai chocolate and coffee and this shop provides a wonderful tour of chocolates from across the country. I ordered a hot chocolate made with chocolate from Trang and it was delicious. Very fruity but bold. Next time I’ll try their confectioneries. Come and experience Thai chocolates and the varieties from the different parts of Thailand.
Delicious chocolate to buy for "pasalubong" yummy hot Choco drinks too. Petite interior but cohesive and stylish.
Coffee and chocolate is a perfect complementary taste combo like gin and tonic, or somtam and gai yan. And no one does C&C better than the Paradai cafe in the Bangkok Arts & Cultural Center. This eye catching cafe is super popular thanks to its original interior design and scrumptious array of chocolate treats. I’ve not tried the chocolates but I will next time - i can vouch for the coffee however and Paradai is one of my fave places when I want a break from work. It’s another affordable coffee house option in the central city.
