Compact urban temple with red decor & many gilded chedis & statues, including a golden Buddha....
Wat Phra Phiren is a captivating Buddhist temple located in the heart of Bangkok, offering a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle. Its vibrant personality is evident in its warm, inviting red walls, intricate gilded chedis, and statues that adorn the grounds. The temple's architecture reflects traditional Thai craftsmanship, with delicate carvings and vivid murals narrating stories of Buddhist teachings - *Location:* Bangkok, near the Chao Phraya River, adding to its serene vibe. - *Visiting Hours:* Typically open daily from around 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, but best to check locally for updates. - *Best Time to Visit:* Early morning or late afternoon for soft light and fewer crowds. - *Tips:* Dress modestly (shoulders and knees covered), remove shoes before entering halls, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
Same experience as previous comments - there is a scam operation running here where you’re greeted by an overly friendly local who gets you a “good price” on a tuktuk which takes you to this temple (nothing special, just a good place to get you alone) where a guy is waiting there to try to convince you to go to a suit store in the tuktuk. They are very persistent. We realized what was happening and paid the tuktuk driver for his time thus far but refused to go anywhere else. They derailed our plans and left us far from where we wanted to be. Don’t listen to anyone pushing you to come here.
Beautiful place but we got here by accident (we got partially scammed - known as tuktuk scam). Luckily we realized that quite quickly so we refused to carry on to the suit shop. At last we actually won because we were driven by tuktuk quite far only for 30 bath :D und the driver got upset. Please be aware!
Unfortunately there is a man that is using the temple as part of a scam against tourists. Commonly known as the tuktuk scam. The guy waits at the entrance to these two rooms and claims to be a lawyer and tries to get you to go shop for a suit and jewellery. Sad to be doing such things in temples! 😧
Very amazing place, A khon mask in the form of a hermit sage (Phra Ruesi) is a beautiful piece of traditional Thai art and culture. I can tell you that one word is "A MUST".
