Arrived at 8:00 AM for breakfast and there were no juices ready, which was already disappointing. How do you not have juice for breakfast when almost half of your drinks menu is juice? I ordered the strawberry tart, which used to be one of my favourites, but it was honestly nowhere near as good as it used to be. The crust was too thick and uneven, with some parts noticeably heavier than others when cutting into it. The cream layer was barely there it felt like it was just thinly brushed over the crust rather than properly filled. Because of that, the tart lacked flavour and depth. The overall taste felt flat, almost as if the ingredients or recipe had been changed. Unfortunately, this is not just about the tart. Over the past few months, I have tried several of their other pastries as well, and they all tasted noticeably different compared to before. The quality and flavour just do not feel the same anymore. We also ordered the scrambled eggs, and the portion was surprisingly small. They came out looking very pale and bland, with no visible seasoning at all. The taste matched the appearance, extremely mild and lacking flavour, which made the dish feel quite underwhelming. Another thing worth mentioning is the service. The staff were not rude, but they were also not particularly friendly or cheerful. The energy felt very flat, and they looked tired despite it being only 8:00 AM. It is not a negative enough experience on its own, but it definitely is not a plus either. This is especially disappointing because I used to come here all the time growing up. Back then, the strawberry tart had plenty of vanilla cream and a pink gelatin layer over the strawberries, and the pastries were consistently good. The staff were also quite cheerful which made the environment feel more alive. Now, it feels like the standards have dropped, possibly due to new management or ownership. I can understand why Monsieur Spoon is no longer as crowded as it used to be. Sadly, it is just not what it once was.
Ordered Mac&Cheese and there wasn't any cheese, only sauce from Mac&Cheese quick food. For 103k+18% was bad. But the coffee was nice and the pastry really good. Would return for croissant and coffee, but for having lunch and any other food would recommend to stay away from it.
Avoid. After I was already eating a strawberry croissant I discovered fresh cream inside. This has been sitting out since this morning not refrigerated. It’s 4.30pm. Very worried about what’s to come for my young boy and I. Staff had no idea cream should be kept in the fridge. Praying we don’t end up very sick. No hygienic or food safety knowledge.
Mr spoon going down. The menu used to be much better. Now it is not a place for breakfast anymore. Bakery limited. My breakfast is so miserable Not to the standard of Bali anymore
Had such a good time at Monsieur Spoon in Canggu. The food was amazing and the wagyu burger was next level 🤩. Honestly, everything we ordered was so good. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you’re in Canggu!
