Luwak Cafe

I ordered Pad Kra Pao, and the menu clearly stated it is cooked with local basil. However, when the dish arrived, there was no basil at all. It tasted more like pork stir-fried with fish sauce and oyster sauce. When I pointed this out, I could hear the staff talking loudly to each other saying “what’s wrong?”, which felt quite unprofessional. Instead of preparing a new dish, they took my original plate back and simply stir-fried the same food again with basil added. The result was much saltier and the pork became hard and dry from being cooked twice. The staff were polite, but the price is not cheap, so I expected food quality that matches the price. I was disappointed with this experience.

Ordered two iced coffee: iced oat latte and iced soy cappuccino. The oat latte was just OK, nothing special. The soy cappuccino was disappointing. I saw the barista pour V-Soy in the iced coffee - we ordered cappuccino! When I asked the waitress that we ordered iced cappuccino and not another latte, she spoke to the barista. We are not local so didn’t understand the exchange; it did sound though that the barista was not happy we returned the coffee to have the right coffee order, an iced cappuccino with soy milk. The waitress returned to us with the same coffee, explaining that soy milk doesn’t froth. I would have believed that if I didn’t see the barista literally just pour V-Soy into the glass. Disappointing, and you call yourself a coffee shop. Soy milk froths well.

Great little chain in Ubud. If you're a westener and you want to get out of the heat get inside to cool down. Prices are reasonable even at tourist prices. Food is prepared with care and as usual the service is great. Decor is clean and simple and there is a loo which is kept to a pretty high standard. Definitely come in hear if you are passing. Club sandwich is more filling than it looks.

Great coffee and cozy vibe! The baristas at Black Eye really know their craft — smooth moccahino , perfect milk texture, and friendly service. A lovely spot to relax or catch up with friends. Highly recommend! ☕✨
