Excellent bistro. Cozy place, beautiful food. Very affordable pricing. Neighborhood coffee shop feel with great vibes. So happy to have found it as we were speficially looking for non-touristy spots for brunch.
I've been staying in Athens for a week with a couple of friends for an architecture workshop we were attending. We needed something quick and near our area, so Salute Bistro really came in handy. But although the food was actually pretty nice, we were met with an extremely cold and unwelcoming staff. We tried our best to be respectful, saying "thank you" after every single move they made, but we always just recieved stone cold silences in exchange. Mind you, we went there for at least 3 days in a row (9th, 10th and 11th of February), enduring the staff's behaviour. But things reached a point of no return on the last day we were there. As we were approaching the cash register to pay, taking a little time to get our wallets out and whatever, the cashier (also waitress) with such a rude jesture (clapping of hands) as the tone she used urged us to get a move on and go. We decided to not come back the next day. What would've been an optimal solution for our needs other than an actually pretty nice place lost 5 clients just because of its personnel. P.S.: I just remembered that the last day we went there they also forgot part of our orders. I don't think it's that big of a deal and honestly it didn't nor does bother me that much, but I mean... least you can do after messing up is maybe not be rude when I'm paying too. Because it all happened on the same day.
Our favorite little coffee/tea shop while we were in Athens. Just a quick walk from our hotel. The server was extremely nice and their coffees and teas were amazing!! We went back three times!!
Honestly the best meatballs we have ever eaten. The Greek Oma on the kitchen kindly served us meatballs 30 mins before lunch was allowed to be ordered and they were to die for! The hummus and guacamole had such strong, authentic flavours. We dined with kids and although the wooden seating was a little awkward, we made ourselves comfortable in the little corner booth. We would return in a heartbeat.
What feels like an up scale establishment, is a move and casual spot to chill. Service was quick and prompt. Recommend the manti ravioli, avocado toast and chips with hummus. Coffee here is quite tasty, robust, and flavorful. A nice walk down a ways from the Acropolis if you’d like to get away from the hustle and bustle.
