Relaxed hostel in a neoclassical property featuring a shared kitchen & a trendy open-air bar....
I had a great stay at Baloo Hostel Athens. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the whole place was clean, cozy, and well-maintained. Itβs easy to meet other travelers, but still relaxed enough to chill. The location is decent and close to transport, though the area can feel a bit rough at night. Overall, great value for money β Iβd definitely stay here again!
Perfect place for some good days in Athens. Super nice staff, clean and pretty rooms, cozy community spaces and good location, the kitchen is well equipped and spacey. Even though it might not seem very safe around the building, there have been no problems for me as a solo traveling woman or other guests during my time there. Will definitely go there again when in Athens. :)
Hostel itself is absolutely perfect, the staff (especially Jo!) make the place welcoming from the minute you arrive. Bedroom was clean and the curtains are a nice touch for extra privacy. It isn't a party hostel, but you definitely will end up chatting with people here as the hostel has a great little breakfast and bar area, hosts lots of events and generally just has a great vibe about it. I really, really want to give 5 stars as the hostel was amazing but the only issue was the surrounding area. I definitely recommend that solo females get taxis back in the dark or walk with others who are also staying in the hostel. The streets don't feel very safe, with one in particular having a lot of drug users sitting around at night (like 10+ people). Overall, I would return and recommend this place but just make sure you keep this one thing in mind so you can enjoy your experience.
I stayed there for a week last May and honestly, it has been my best hostel experience so far! This place is so cozy you'll feel like home. I especially liked the hostel bar, such a nice and convenient spot if you want to hang out and meet people. The neighborhood is much more authentic than the touristic areas, it's close to lots of delicious restaurants and cool bars + everything you'll want to visit in Athens is within walking distance anyway. As a French woman traveling by myself for the first time, my only regret was not staying longer! The people who work there are absolute sweethearts, they're fun and helpful and made me feel very safe. Shout out to Stella, Giorgia, Aliki and Thomas! Thank you for your warm welcome, you made my holiday so lovely! ~ Clara
Wow, what a charming hostel. This has got to be up in my top 5 hostels Iβve ever been to (and Iβve been to a lot). Itβs clean and cozy, with extremely comfortable beds that have curtains and large storage underneath. The free tea and coffee and light breakfast felt so welcoming. The events at the hostel are extremely reasonable price-wise (like the different Greek alcohol tasting, etc). The staff were all super helpful and nice. I do wish the reception was 24 hours, so many flights get in at weird times like mine. But everything about this hostel fosters a great environment to meet people and relax. Check out their restaurant recommendations, they were incredibly delicious. The area is well located, it does initially seem a little sketchy looking but I had no issues at any time, I walked everywhere or went to the metro in the nearby square. Highly recommend, I would stay here again.
