Trakteren

Adorable little hole-in-the-wall café serving up amazing coffee in a super cozy space! Trakteren is a bit off the beaten path of the classic touristy route, but this hidden gem is absolutely worth the trek out west — plus, it’s a few blocks away from the delightful Vondelpark, so it’s a convenient spot to fuel up on caffeine before / after a park walk. The baristas are super friendly and talented, and I love the cute animal-themed latte art. The coffee is smooth and slightly nutty, and it’s clear how much they care about curating a perfect cup of joe. The space is very cozy, especially with the dim lighting, and it has way more seating than you’d expect for such a small space

We rolled in on a grey and rainy day in Amsterdam. Lovey little coffee shop with a selection of burgundy bottles to go. Eric took wonderful care of us with our coffee and cookie selection. A quiet place far from the bustle of the tourist scene.

Might be my favorite place to grab a coffee in oud west. The people working there are very friendly and they make sure you will like your order! Also the decaf coffee is super super good, I really enjoyed my iced coffee ☕

Such a friendly neighborhood gem, to the point where I hesitate to write them a review as I kind of want to keep this place a secret. It looks unassuming from the outside, with none of the hipster expat coffeeshop trimmings that’s ruining so much of Amsterdam. But the coffee is much better than most places that promise you ‘first wave whatever whatever blah blah’ coffee. It has a lot of local customers, people who clearly know each other and the owner which gives it a friendly neighborhood vibe. Also — we only paid 6.70 for a latte and a flat white (yes you read the right, affordable good coffee sans hipster in the middle of Amsterdam). Paradise still exists so go ahead and trakteer jezelf op een koffie bij trakteren. But just promise not to tell anyone else about it!

Trakteren is a lovely place to have a seat with a friend and enjoy a delicious cup of coffee (or other nice drinks like a matcha latte!). The staff was very helpful and kind! We ordered a chai latte, a slow coffee and some sweets. All of them were amazing! We were also lucky to be given a taste of another drink which was amazingly delicious. We can’t wait to go again and try out their other drinks.
