this is a very well presented store, there was a line outside but it moved quickly! we had two coffees, two pastries and a focaccia sandwich which were all delicious! it was too busy to sit inside but we sat in the park next to it which was fine! the focaccia in particular was excellent! would recommend!
The best coffee in Amsterdam π Yes, I was only in the country for 4 days but that's not important... I visited here twice in 4 days & that says a lot considering the amount of vegan options available in Amsterdam. The double baked almond croissant was like heaven in my mouth π» I didn't catch his name, but my partner & I were chatting to a guy working on Friday 17th October. Such a friendly chap! He recommended we try the tahini & sesame cookie, & omg - yes!!π₯ If I'm ever back in Amsterdam, this is the first place I will be going. 100% recommend to all vegans & non-vegans.
Tried the tiramisu danish - overall it was good and tasty, but thereβs room for improvement. Mine seemed a bit over-baked, as the edges were quite hard and the pastry itself felt slightly oily and not as crisp or flaky as expected. The cream on top was nice, but it didnβt quite evoke the βtiramisuβ flavor as the name suggests, adding a hint of coffee could really elevate it. Drinks were good, and all the other pastries my friend and Iβve tried here have been solid or above average. The place is aesthetically pleasing, and the price-to-quality ratio is great. Highly recommend overall!
Oh Margo's, the bakery you are. It took me three-four visits to even realize you were vegan, because of how impeccable the viennoiseries are. Beats Paris' pastries by a thousand miles - the outer crunch, the flaverful fillings, the soft and airy layers inside are so delicious. Their pain au chocolat is a favorite; the chocolate itself always remains creamy but with a very deep cocoa taste to it. While I love a very buttery pastry, I have noticed that the vegan fat used in Margo's pastries makes me feel much lighter than I usually do after a non-vegan one. Their cream on the fig pastry is so light yet decadent; the pistachio rose danish is such a nice treat as well. All in all, a 10/10. Friendly staff and chill atmosphere overall. Side note: I wasn't a fan of the raspberry matcha latte overall, but the matcha on its own was of good quality. And savory-wise, the sprinkled salt on the sausage roll was unnecessary and made it too salty in the middle in my opinion.
Raspberry Cheesecake Review: Really really good pastry. The textures were perfect both inside and out. The outside had a crisp, gold shell that was both flaky and induced the perfect crunch when bitten into. The inside was buttery and smooth. The taste was equal as great. The filling was tasty, but not overbearing and had the ideal cheesecake to raspberry ratio. Really cute vibes inside, and the service was also great! **Pro tip, I would recommend coming here before 11am so you still have an array of pastries to pick from. It seems they make things in limited batches daily (which I appreciate as it ensures freshness) but once an item is gone, itβs gone.**
