In November, three of my girlfriends and I visited Amsterdam to explore the city and try different culinary spots. Chun was highly recommended, so of course we wanted to experience it ourselves. Unfortunately, since we didn’t make a reservation, we had to wait in line for nearly an hour. Once we were seated, we placed our orders. The Strawberry Matcha was absolutely delicious. Our sandwiches were excellent — especially the shredded beef sandwich, which was outstanding. The shrimp sandwich was good as well, though not quite as memorable as the beef. When our food arrived, we unfortunately found a hair in one of the sandwiches. We immediately informed a staff member, and they handled the situation professionally by apologizing and bringing a freshly prepared replacement right away. The café has a very modern and stylish atmosphere, but it is quite small and tends to be very crowded. Despite that, the sandwiches are definitely worth trying. Overall, I would still recommend it — just make sure to reserve in advance to avoid long waiting times
We tried the sandwiches at Chun Cafe and the food itself was really good. We had the bacon sandwich and the shrimp one, and both were warm, tasty, and well prepared. The bread was soft and everything was fresh definitely delicious. However, the experience wasn’t entirely positive. The line was extremely long, we waited over 1 hour and 10 minutes, and the waiting continued inside even after ordering. The service is very slow, which made the whole experience a bit frustrating. On top of that, the prices are quite high. Paying around €30 for two takeaway sandwiches feels a bit excessive.
CHUN is a truly wonderful spot with a great atmosphere and incredibly good food. Honestly, it serves one of the best toasties I’ve ever had in Amsterdam — flavorful, perfectly made, and absolutely worth trying. We ordered the ribeye and shrimp toastie, and it was absolutely delicious. The combination was rich, tasty, and cooked perfectly — easily one of the best sandwiches we had during our time in the city. That said, there’s one huge downside: the queue. When we first arrived, the waiting time was around an hour and a half, which felt completely unreasonable just to get a toast. We decided to leave and come back closer to closing time. Luckily, during the last ten minutes before closing, they welcomed us in right away and prepared our toast immediately. Thanks to that second attempt, we were able to enjoy the food without any waiting time, and it was genuinely amazing. The experience ended on a high note, but standing in line for 90 minutes for a sandwich simply isn’t worth it. Overall, CHUN is fantastic for the quality of its food and the vibe — just try to go at quieter times if you can.
I recently tried a sandwich that was truly exceptional! The rib eye bulgogi was unlike anything I've tasted before and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. It was so flavorful and the texture was perfect. Beyond the incredible food, the service I received by Sharisa was also outstanding. Our server Sharisa made sure we had everything we needed and was incredibly attentive. It's rare to find such a combination of delicious cuisine and top-notch hospitality. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to experience more of their wonderful offerings. This place has definitely earned a spot on my list of favorites.
100% WORTH THE HYPE. I decided to turn up 15 minutes before the restaurant was due to open and I’m glad I did as I was able to eat in. By 10, the line was over the bridge with people buzzing to get in! The staff are efficient and polite, and the sandwiches are really tasty! I wish I had the energy to go there everyday during my stay for breakfast as it was soo nice. I would recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam!
