This unbelievable place lives up to all the hype, and more! The food is unbelievable and a real pleasure to experience. Get there early and make sure you get the Garlic Shrimp!!! My fiancée and me had to visit twice in 2 days and haven't stopped talked about it since!
The queue was almost an hour, but honestly it was absolutely worth it. The ribeye sandwich was incredible — the steak was tender, juicy, and packed with flavour. The toast was perfectly crisp on the outside with a soft, buttery centre, and the sauce complemented the ribeye without overpowering it. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the care that goes into it. Even with the wait, we really enjoyed it and would happily queue again. Highly recommend.
If you’re on TikTok, you’ve definitely seen Chun Café, the viral Korean-inspired toast spot that always seems to have a line outside (yes, sometimes even a security guard 😅). We went to the newer Spuistraat location, which felt a bit more chill but still busy. Of course we had to try the famous Ribeye Bulgogi toast. First of all, the brioche? Thick, buttery, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The filling was generous and the beef is halal-certified. It was tasty, but I expected a deeper, smoky bulgogi flavor, it felt a bit more like minced beef than classic bulgogi. With added cheese, it costs €18 which is pretty pricey for what it is. The taste is still good, just different than I imagined, and somewhat disappointing. I've definitely had better bulgogi toasts (like the one at K-EA in Rotterdam!). We also tried the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte. It was refreshing and slightly sweet from the strawberry, but the matcha flavor was pretty mild (I like mine strong). Overall, Chun is super trendy (great branding/marketing really) and the staff is very friendly. It’s definitely worth visiting for the vibe and that thick, fluffy brioche toast moment. Maybe I should try some of their other sandwiches next time, like the Garlic Shrimp. That said, I personally wouldn’t wait an hour in line for it (and yes, people actually do at the original location).
Got in line around 11 and waited almost an hour. It was sooooo worth it though! I got the strawberry matcha and garlic shrimp toast and my husband got the peach black tea and rib eye toast. We both couldn’t stop saying how good it was. The food came out quickly and the line honestly moved faster than I thought it would. So good!!!
Chun Café is absolutely worth the hype. I had the shoyu egg salad sandwich with a cappuccino, and it was worth every penny. The shop opens at 10 AM—I was there by 9:45 and still 14th in the queue, but totally worth the wait. I’d happily go again and order the same.
