Café Saté

Food: short ribs & chicken skewers with a side of dumplings. The sauces were perfect. The meat was tender and fell off the bones. We will be back again at 3am for more… Service: met both owners and they’re the sweetest people in Netherlands. Hands down. Atmosphere: the bartender busted out singing mid-service and didn’t miss a beat (pouring drinks OR singing). Need I say more?

Very personal service, as if in your own living room but atmosphere very warm. The owners go out of their way to make your evening special. Tjerk sings on the go, and Paula cooks the most juicy sate. Highly recommend!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Cafe Sate, and I can't say enough good things about it! My wife and I had walked by countless times, and it was always bustling with patrons. Finally, we decided to stop by on a Thursday at 4pm, and it was a delightful experience. The cafe has a fantastic terrace, perfect for soaking up the sun, and the indoor area is wonderfully cozy - a true gem of a "kroeg." What makes this place even more special is that the owner is not only a local singer but also a brilliant chef. Alongside his girlfriend, they make an incredible team running the cafe and kitchen. Every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients, and the nacho rendang was an absolute highlight. As a local, Cafe Sate has quickly become our favorite spot to relax, chat, savor delicious food, and enjoy their warm hospitality. I highly recommend it 👌

You fall in love with this place the moment you step in. Everything is ticked from the food, to the ambience, music and above all the wonderful people. They run the Café from their heart. Really, really, really a MUST visit in Amsterdam. TJ, you are AMAZING!

Most beautifully presented french fries I’ve ever been served IN MY LIFE! And the owner of the café sang a personal serenade for us. If I could give 10 stars, I would give them! No decaffé coffee though… ‘Only real coffee’ he said.
