Although the waiter who sat us was a bit dominant, as in “sit there please” and not letting the other waiters attend us, the bartender was super friendly. We had a nice wine and sparkling water.

First time visit in December 2021 during the 3rd lockdown. Friendly staff and nice ambiance. Enjoyable visit, it is located in the center of the city. (Within walking distance to many restaurants and shopping streets).

Very beautiful and particular restaurant, design is nice and pleasant. Personnel is very gentle, the only flaw is the slow service, meals took about 25 mins to be prepared nevertheless, the eggplant and pea cream sandwich was delicious, and the salad too, extremely fresh and tasty, super recommended. Prices are medium (27€ for a 2 people lunch).

de BALIE (means: “the DESK” or “the COUNTER”) is a nice place to have something to drink and to eat as well. The crew is friendly and helpfull. It can be very busy at times. A cozy and busy gathering place is the best way to describe what the BALIE is all about. They are well known for their “Balieburger van Hollandse ‘dubbeldoel koe’ (Burger of Dutch dairy cow/cornichon/green pepper)”. It tastes (I think) really great!! You can taste the quality of the bread, they seasoned the meat with delicious herbs that is complemented with a fresh salad on the side. It’s great to order it for lunch or dinner. Make sure to order it with their fresh squeezed orange juice. This combo is delicious!!
